Righteous Felon Sampler

Fourteen pieces. Three formats. One Philadelphia crew that's been making jerky since before most snack brands had a website. Eight bags of beef jerky, three bags of air-dried biltong, and six meat sticks — every heat level covered, every craving addressed, nothing mass-produced about any of it.

The jerky is marinated and slow-dried from pasture-raised Black Angus sourced from Roseda Farm in Maryland. The biltong skips the heat and dehydrator entirely — whole cuts cured in red wine vinegar, air-dried the South African way, then sliced thin. The sticks are single-protein, reformulated in 2023 with clean, direct ingredients and no filler. These aren't related products thrown into a box. They're the Righteous Felon core lineup, all at once.

Tear into the O.G. Hickory for the baseline. Work through the Bourbon Franklin and Seoul Survivor to see how far they push a marinade. Hit the Darth Garlic Biltong and understand why the format has its own following. The sticks are a palate reset — portable, clean, built for speed. This is a sampler that actually teaches you something about craft jerky.

What's Inside

O.G. Hickory Beef Jerky

The original 1996 recipe. Hickory smoke, molasses, brown sugar, black pepper. Savory and direct — the one that started everything for Righteous Felon and still outsells everything else in the lineup.

Bootleggin' BBQ Beef Jerky

Built on Righteous Felon's base marinade, then hit with Baby Blues Sweet Kick Sauce — a blend of chipotle, habanero, and serrano peppers with molasses and mustard. Sweet start, slow-building heat on the back end.

Seoul Survivor Beef Jerky

Winner of Righteous Felon's 2021 "March Meatness" tournament. Gochujang, tamari, rice vinegar, toasted sesame. Spicy, umami-forward, tangy. Korean BBQ done right on American Black Angus.

Maryland Monroe Beef Jerky

Hickory base with Chesapeake Crab Spice — celery salt, red pepper, black pepper, paprika. Spiced and smoky. Sourced from Roseda Farm, same as all their beef, less than 100 miles from where the crab spice was invented.

Bourbon Franklin Beef Jerky

The O.G. recipe drenched in actual bourbon (malted barley, corn, water) with vanilla extract, vanilla bean, and allspice. Savory, sweet, distinctly American. Note: contains barley — not gluten-free.

Darth Garlic Biltong

Black garlic, red wine vinegar, coriander, pepper, monk fruit. No heat, no smoke — just deep umami from air-dried beef cured in the South African tradition. Their top-selling biltong.

Ancho Villa Biltong

Darth Garlic's spicy sibling. Same black garlic base, layered with ancho, chipotle, cayenne, and habanero peppers. Bold heat without obscuring the biltong texture underneath.

Nelson Mandilla Biltong

Dill, black garlic, red wine vinegar, cracked pepper. Air-dried, zero sugar, 32g protein per bag. The dill-pickle profile on biltong sounds unexpected — one bite in, it makes complete sense.

Lemon Pepper Turkey Stick (x2)

100% turkey with granulated lemon, black pepper, basil, and oregano. Clean, bright, 11g protein per stick. Gluten-free, soy-free, no added nitrates.

Street Taco Pork Stick (x2)

100% pork with real pineapple, chipotle pepper, ancho chile, cilantro, and cumin. Al pastor in stick form. Gluten-free, soy-free, 9g protein per stick.

Fiery Habanero Beef Stick (x2)

100% beef with dried habanero flakes, ground habanero, red pepper, and chili powder. Actually hot. 9g protein, gluten-free, soy-free. The one to reach for when the others aren't cutting it.

The Maker

Righteous Felon started in Chester County, Pennsylvania in 1997 and has been operating out of Philadelphia ever since. Their beef comes from Roseda Farm, a Black Angus operation in northern Maryland — pasture-raised, hormone-free, antibiotic-free, and dry-aged 21 days before it ever meets a marinade. Every batch is made in small runs. They now move product through 10,000+ stores, but the process hasn't scaled to match the distribution. Still handmade, still small-batch, still Philadelphia.

FAQ

Is Bourbon Franklin gluten-free?
No. Bourbon Franklin is the one exception in this sampler — the bourbon used in the marinade contains malted barley, making it not gluten-free. All other products in this sampler are gluten-free. If you have a serious sensitivity, set that bag aside.

What's the difference between biltong and beef jerky?
Jerky is sliced first, then dried with heat. Biltong is cured in red wine vinegar, air-dried whole (no dehydrator, no heat), then sliced after drying. The result is a softer, moister texture — closer to thin-sliced prosciutto than traditional jerky. Zero sugar, higher protein, a completely different eating experience.

How spicy are the spicy items?
Bootleggin' BBQ builds gradually — moderate heat with a sweet start. Seoul Survivor is medium-hot with a gochujang warmth. Maryland Monroe has a peppery Chesapeake bite, not overwhelming. Ancho Villa Biltong is genuinely spicy across ancho, chipotle, and habanero. The Fiery Habanero Stick is the hottest item in the box — actual heat from multiple habanero formats.

Do these products need refrigeration?
Everything ships shelf-stable. No refrigeration required before opening. After opening, store in a sealed container and refrigerate. Jerky and biltong: consume within a few days of opening. Sticks: best within a week of opening. Unopened shelf life is 12 months for all products.

Where does Righteous Felon source their beef?
Primarily Roseda Farm in northern Maryland — a Black Angus operation producing pasture-raised, hormone-free, antibiotic-free beef that's dry-aged 21 days. Their sticks also draw from 44 Farms in Texas, another all-natural Angus operation. The turkey and pork sticks are sourced separately from single-protein, no-additive suppliers.
